Windham Mountain, Windham, NY (June 17, 2019) -

The American Junior Golf Association returns to Windham Country Club June 24, 2019 through June 27, 2019, for the Windham Mountain Resort Junior All-Star.  The event has become an annual occurrence, now in its fourth year.  A field of 96 athletes between the ages of 12 and 15 travel from around the world to Windham to compete in the 54 stroke play event.  The qualifier round begins with a shotgun start at 8:00am on Monday, June 24th, followed by a practice round that afternoon.  Competition rounds tee off starting at 7am on Tuesday, June 25th, Wednesday, June 26th, and Thursday June 27th.

“This has become a flagship event of our season here and we take a lot of pride in hosting it”, says Kristen Garraghan, Director of Operations at Windham Country Club.  She adds, “The town of Windham really comes alive to embrace these families and it’s great to have that energy here.”

The AJGA is a 501(c) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.  There are 7,200 junior members in the organization, which has provided $14.8M in financial assistance through competitive junior golf through the Ace Grant Program.  Notable alumni of AJGA include Tiger Woods, Inbee Park, Phil Mickelson, Paula Cramer and Jordan Spieth.

Windham Country Club is a scenic and challenging 18 hole public golf course along the Batavia Skill, in the heart of the great northern Catskills.  Originally designed in 1928, the course suffered mass devastation following Hurricane Irene in 2011.  Under the ownership of Windham Mountain Resort, it was renovated and re-opened to the public in 2014, returning to its former glory while maintaining its longstanding tradition. Mulligan’s Pub adjoins the clubhouse and offers delicious fare and a spacious outdoor deck with stunning views of the Catskill Mountains.

Members of the press who would like to cover the tournament should contact Tournament Director, David McCaskill, for credentials and access to the playing field.  David may be reached at dmccaskill@ajga.org.
