WINDHAM MOUNTAIN APPOINTS TROY KETCHAM DIRECTOR OF MARKETING

WINDHAM MOUNTAIN, N.Y. (May 14, 2012) - Windham Mountain today announced the appointment of Troy Ketcham to the position of director of marketing.

A Windham Mountain skier since 1989, Ketcham has been a part of the Windham Mountain management team since 2003, when he began his career in the ski industry as the marketing department's events coordinator.

In 2007 Ketcham was promoted to director of base operations, where he spent three years managing several departments at the resort including lodge maintenance, parking and additional base lodge operations.

Ketcham returned to his marketing roots as marketing manager in 2010. When the position of marketing director became available, Ketcham was the clear choice to take on the responsibility as the director of the department that he began in nearly ten years ago.

During his time at Windham Mountain, Ketcham is one of only two employees to be recognized both as Rookie of the Year and as the recipient of Windham Mountain's Gold Key award, an annual award that acknowledges one employee for their contribution to the resort.

Ketcham holds a B.A. in Marketing from SUNY Plattsburgh. He and his wife Tracy are expecting their first child this summer.

Attention Windham Mountaineers:

We are sad to report that despite our best efforts, we will not re-open Windham Mountain for March 24.

U.S. SKI TEAM DAY BRINGS OLYMPIANS AND LOCAL HEROES TO WINDHAM MOUNTAIN

WINDHAM MOUNTAIN, N.Y. (March 8, 2012) - American legends of skiing, including Olympians Tommy Moe, Donna Weinbrecht, Tamara McKinney, Diann Roffe and Steven Nyman hit the slopes last Saturday for the second annual U.S. Ski Team Day at Windham Mountain.

The fun-filled event, held on March 3, 2012, brought together former Olympians, U.S. Ski Team members and local Adaptive Sports heroes Caitlyn Sarubi and Staci Mannella for a day of skiing, riding and inspiration.

The goal of the second annual event was both to raise funds for the U.S. Ski Team and to give guests, particularly Windham Mountain Junior Program participants, the opportunity to meet world class athletes.

Most of the day was shared by the athletes and the events' sponsors who enjoyed skiing and riding time and a luncheon.

In the afternoon, the athletes and USSA officials made a stop at the Adaptive Sports Center before gathering at the resort's new Competition Center. The Center is the base of operations for Junior Program participants and dozens of junior race, snowboard and freestyle participants and their parents were gathered for an autograph signing session and ceremony.

At the gathering Bill Marolt, USSA president and chief executive officer, presented Randy MacDonald, on behalf of the Windham Mountain Partners, with a framed Bode Miller race suit. The suit was worn by Miller when he won the Gold Medal in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

"It was an extraordinary gift that means so much to our Junior Program kids," said MacDonald. "Windham Mountain's Junior Program participants are exceptional, and having the race suit of a world class athlete at the Center is truly inspirational. With hard work this is what can be achieved. The constant reminder of that goal is priceless."

The athletes then offered autographs to Windham Mountain guests on the back patio before concluding the evening with an Après Ski Party in The Club.

Windham Mountain and the U.S. Ski Team Foundation plan to host the event for a third year during the 2012-2013 winter season. To learn more about the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation, visit http://foundation.ussa.org/foundation.

SANTAS AT WINDHAM MOUNTAIN RAISE MORE THAN $2000 FOR LOCAL CHARITY

The second annual Skiing and Riding Santa Day brings hundreds of Santas to the resort

WINDHAM MOUNTAIN (December 18, 2011) - On Sunday, December 18, 2011 more than 200 Santas arrived at Windham Mountain for a day of holiday themed fun on the snow.

On Skiing and Riding Santa Day, each of the Santas contributed a donation resulting in more than $2000 for the local food pantry at Hope Restoration Church in Windham, NY.

The Santas gathered in the base area as Chip Seamans, Windham Mountain's general manager and chief operating officer, presented a donation check to Diane Bunce, the CEO of the food pantry.

"Giving back is at the heart of the holiday season. Skiing and Riding Santa Day is an opportunity for Windham Mountain to give back to our community while bringing out the excitement of the holidays with our guests," said Seamans.

The Santas also embarked on their traditional first run, riding the lift to mid mountain and forming a swarm of red suits and beards as they returned to the base area.

Participants were given a free ski ticket for the Sunday event and two additional midweek, non-holiday vouchers for dressing in head-to-toe Santa costumes for the day.

WINDHAM MOUNTAIN OPENS FOR THE 2011-2012 SEASON

WINDHAM MOUNTAIN (December 10, 2011) - Windham Mountain will open for the 2011-2012 winter skiing and riding season on Sunday, December 11, 2011.

Windham Mountain was able to rely on its snowmaking infrastructure and Mountain Operations staff to open its terrain for the first time this winter.

"I got on the snow for the first time this afternoon, and the feeling was phenomenal," said Chip Seamans, general manager and chief operating officer. Seamans came to Windham Mountain in August.

"Every skier and rider looks forward to the first time they are on snow each season. I look forward to meeting and greeting our Windham Mountaineers tomorrow," added Seamans.

Windham Mountain will celebrate its opening with its traditional Ullr Festival. The Norse ski God lead a Fire and Ice Ceremony to pray for a great winter, which held new importance with staff and guests given the unpredictable start of the season.

Windham Mountain will be open from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with 7 trails and 1 lift for advance skiers and riders. Adult ticket prices are $39 and juniors (ages 7-12) are $25.

The resort regularly updates its conditions on the windhammountain.com Mountain Report.

SKIING AND RIDING SANTA DAY RETURNS TO WINDHAM MOUNTAIN

WINDHAM MOUNTAIN (December 10, 2011) - On Sunday, December 18, 2011, Windham Mountain will host its second annual Skiing and Riding Santa Day.

The holiday event boasts a charitable purpose, with donation received from each of the 300 pre-registered Santas. The funds will again be presented to the local food pantry at Hope Restoration Church in Windham, NY.

Last year's event was a huge success for Windham Mountain, featuring 150 Santas and raising more than $1400 for a local food pantry.

Participants are given a free ski ticket for the Sunday event and two additional midweek, non-holiday vouchers for dressing in head-to-toe Santa costumes for the day.

All Santas meet in the morning for a group picture at 10:00 a.m. followed by a group ski and ride. Viewing the event from the base lodge patio is open to the public.
