Windham Mountain Resort Celebrates Grand Opening of Beginner Area

Windham Mountain, Windham, NY (December 7, 2013) - The grand opening of the Whisper Run beginner area was celebrated at Windham Mountain Resort with members of the Windham and Greene County communities.

Representatives of the Great Northern Catskills Chamber of Commerce, Windham Chamber of Commerce, Great Northern Catskills Tourism Office, Delaware Engineering, and Greene Country Legislature were in attendance in support of the resort’s expansion.

The ceremony celebrated the completion of industry leading beginner terrain as Snow Sports School instructors awaited the opportunity to get on the trail with their students. President and general manager Chip Seamans lead the ribbon cutting and spoke about the need to give first time skiers and riders a great experience.

“As passionate skiers and riders we can all appreciate what it means to learn on terrain that is comfortable and not intimidating,” said Seamans. “Our goal is to provide a positive and memorable experience so new students become lifelong participants.”

New skiers and riders now have plenty of room to grow and to fall in love with the sport as Whisper Run provides two acres of beginner terrain with two conveyor lifts in front of the resort’s base lodge. The new beginner area doubles the amount of beginner terrain previously offered by the Resort.

The area is specifically suited for first-timers and beginners with a very slight incline that allows skiers and riders to control their speed while learning the basics. Ski and snowboard instructors have catered their teaching style to embrace the beginner area, resulting in better and faster skill development for first time skiers and riders.
