Windham Mountain Appoints Seasoned Marketing Professional
Windham, NY (June 3, 2010) – Windham Mountain announces the appointment of George Driscoll to the position of Director of Marketing and Sales. Driscoll comes to Windham Mountain with a broad background of ski and hospitality industry experience.
“We are extremely excited and pleased to have George Driscoll join our team here at Windham Mountain”, stated president and general manager Tim Woods. “We believe Windham Mountain is well prepared to move onto new levels of service, market segments, partnerships and experiences and we believe that George is just the guy to help take us there”.
Driscoll comes to Windham Mountain having been vice president of marketing and sales for THE CAT -a high speed state of the art catamaran ferry that served Maine and Nova Scotia. He was previously vice president of marketing and sales for the Sunday River ski area in Bethel, Maine; vice president of sales for Customers First-a division of Snow Sports Industries of America; director of international marketing and sales for the American Skiing Company; director of conference sales and summer marketing for Sunday River; and director of marketing for The Samoset Resort-a four diamond AAA resort on the coast of Maine. He once opened an upscale northern Italian restaurant in Portland, Maine after years in the restaurant industry and has also worked in many facets of the ski industry as a snowmaker, groomer, lift-attendant, retail sales person and rental technician.
Driscoll noted, “I have previous marketing experience with the greater New York City marketplace and after reviewing the Windham Mountain product with the team here, we all sense many opportunities are available to us to attract and develop new customers, both on and off the mountain. Developing the whole destination experience is paramount to our success which will further contribute to the year round sustainability of the local area. The mountain is a great product that is celebrating 50 years of operation this season and I look forward to being a part of the team in creating future successes for years to come”.
George has been involved with local initiatives with his involvement in the Bethel, Maine Chamber of Commerce, serving as president, where he gave birth to the idea of building the Guinness Book of records “World’s Tallest Snowman” as a main attraction to their winter festival. He has developed many charitable fundraising programs which continue to contribute to community enterprises. He has also served as chairman of SKIUSA-an international marketing consortium of US resorts.
